Residence Inn Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Residence Inn by Marriott is a brand of extended stay hotels. The chain was launched in 1975 in Wichita, Kansas by Jack DeBoer and Robert L. Brock (the then-largest franchisee of Holiday Inn), and acquired by Marriott International on July 7, 1987. As of June 30, 2020, there were 855 Residence Inn hotels in the United States, Canada and Mexico with 105,785 rooms in addition to 264 hotels with 32,363 rooms in the pipeline. The brand's slogan is "It's not a room. It's a Residence". It was the first extended-stay brand in the United States, and was a key player in launching the concept of a "suite" in a hotel.
Jason mentioned, "As a loyal Marriott customer, I could not believe how this hotel is allowed in their portfolio. From the room, to the staff, to the horrible guests they attract, this place is the exact opposite of what I’ve come to expect from Marriott.
If you enjoy finding drugged out patrons roaming the hallways all night long, unruly guests partying at three and four AM, and prefer a unsympathetic staff that seemly enjoys the circus this hotel offers, you are in luck.
Want a sauna in your room? It’s simple: just flush the toilet. Then it can run for hours running hot water through its system until your entire room is a rainforest.
Restaurant? HA! Go next door to a real hotel for food.
If you want he joys of a third world hotel experience, then go to a third world country. Even they will have better facilities, staff, and guests than this dump"
Guest Service Agent (Former Employee) says"The hotel needs to be condemned, housekeeping needs to be replaced, it's a high turnover of employees coming in and out and the LTD management within residence Marriott LTD do not like to pay their employees. Cons: They need to pay their employees better, they need to evaluate their local people that come into their hotel better, and stop believing every single word that their guests say. Believe in their employees better."
Front Desk Clerk (Former Employee) says"the guests think getting to verbally abuse the staff is included in the room rate and management does nothing to correct this worldview. they want 110% from you in all things but don't pay you enough to survive. Cons: Cons: Dealing with rich guillotine fuel"
Laundry Attendant (Former Employee) says"Management don't care show fake training skills . i been doing this for over 10 years and i been at this place before now its i dont give a care now thats what i went through nobody is really cleaning the rooms properly putting chemicals with the wrong labels taking nasty short cuts that i could not and would not do bottom line but i will wait till there is new staff because i care. I love what i do this place right now need corporate to seek up and that real talk . Cons: No proper training and management is a liar"
Front Desk Receptionist (Former Employee) says"Managers here pick favorties. They don't care if you work many years for them and do extra work. If your not a "favorite" they will never promote you. Even people they promote don't feel treated fairly and don't receive the job titles they deserve. The GM and sales represenative act like they are still in high school and talk bad on guests and employees. When I worked front desk I worked eight hour shifts and never got a lunch break, or any breaks for that matter. They do not have an inclusive work environment and don't treat their employees well. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from here."
Chief Engineer (Former Employee) says"I was hired on the promise of a salary position in which will makes it easy for promotion and training. Afterwards I was put on a part time and denied benefits because I was part time even though I was thru the 90 days point. After reporting the manager for several complaints to hr and the company CEO, I was contacted a attorney for help with the issue, It is now a court case."
Breakfast Supervisor (Former Employee) says"Pay & benefits"
Housekeeping (Former Employee) says"Do not work here if you want full time or even consistent hours. Even if they claim to be giving you full time they give you out times(housekeeping and laundry)Management is a joke to say the least. One is rude and the other is never there. They don’t order the the things you need to do your job(things that go into the rooms) the guests are forced to go without. There’s never enough linen or towels. You spend half your day folding your own stuff and hope that there’s even a laundry person working cause if not, you’re also doing laundry yourself. This place used to be great but management has been a revolving door and they’ve only gotten worse and worse. Please just don’t waste your time, regardless of what position you’re applying for. Cons: Pay, hours, management"
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) says"This is not the Marriott , it's Tharaldson Hospitality Management .They cut hours and your job isn't 40 hours all year round (7 months full time if that )Negative experience at a negative place to work .Low pay and racist management towards blacks . Find a real Marriott to work at not a Tharaldson property . The general manager is prejudice as well as the operations manager .They treat Blacks terribly here , guest and workers. Cons: It's not a good place to work ."
Housekeeping (Former Employee) says"The management is very poor and it's a unprofessional place, alot of Duma to much favoritism .The rules don't apply to everyone only to the ones he dislike. The manager keep more mess going then the employees.Everyone is on different pay, some employee get treated very badly and others get treated like king's and Queen's.Only the one's he don't care for get the worst end of the stick.its not the place it's the people that running the place make it a bad place to work."
Maintenance technician (Former Employee) says"Paid like garbage to do jobs that should be done by a certified technican. Show their employees no respect.did nothing for us during covid pandemic. No extra $ or bonus. Cut our hrs and said deal with it. Nearly impossible to have the right tool for a job. Expect way to much for what you get paid. Make more $ pouring coffee at Tim Hortons. 13 an hr to work on air conditioners and electrical work. Plumbing. Things that people get paid 75 an hr to do. Cons: A lot"
Kitchen Leader (Former Employee) says"You have to RUN!!! Please I AM BEGGING YOU!!!! Cons: poor management!!!!"
Front Desk Clerk (Former Employee) says"Horrible management, quick turnover. absolutely no guidance whatsoever. the COO of this company and other higher ups were the most greedy and self serving people ive ever worked for. Owner often comes in drunk/drinking. Will work you WAAAAYYY beyond your employment description since they cant keep any staff. within 6 months they went through ** SEVEN ** managers. DO NOT APPLY HERE! Cons: everything about this place is terrible."

Night Auditor (Former Employee) says"There’s always new management . Front desk gets treated poorly no break you have to stand full 8 hours . There’s a lot of favoritism going on at the work place . When your a night auditor forget about asking for time off because they never have anyone to cover that shift . Managers and supervisors a couple of the front desk members talk bad behind your back instead of helping you . Great place to work no problems with guest it’s just who you work with"
Hosekeeping (Former Employee) says"The management team is a joke. Of course it's run by a friend of a friend of a friend that know each other why because they all show special favoritism to each other. I mean clearly how you come from a front desk supervisor to a housekeeping manger with in 6 months with no experience at all is a Executive Housekeeping manger. Then on time of that they steal from you and won't do an investigation on it, locker room cameras are covered believe me all the manger team knows about it. This place is also a wired workplace culture and i have i working in hotels for a while now but when did it ever come to racial matter for this place it was less black like really since i left or gotten "fired" long story to that but it only one black female there now. Which I seen and referral black women to this job they'll take their application skip over them to hire a friend or family or someone with no housekeeping experience. I have learned from this job is NOTING but yelling an feeling unwelcome and joke"
Housekeeper (Former Employee) says"Executive housekeeper has a trash attitude and comes to work earlier then expected and goes in checked out rooms and rooms that we cleaned the day before and are to clean that day and takes the tips that were left for us housekeepers and management knows about it and did nothing allowed it to continue to happen..which caused alot girls to quite"
Front Desk Supervisor (Former Employee) says"Horrible place to work. The manager, assistant managers are disgustingly terrible to employees. Cons: Please don't apply to this location"
current employee (Current Employee) says"Assistant manager is a nigerian and fairly new. She now hires only nigerian friends and family and gives them more hours than long term employees. Laurie Queenie Tinyo says"We arrived at Marriott Napa Valley Resort & Spa--rates confirmed were changed without notification or authorization (blame on customer, no responsibility from front desk) no bellman, no maid, no gym open, no coffee in room, limited pool use on weekends, no communication on anything, power out--no checking in on us). Blaming COVID is no excuse for zero service. I understand perfectly about being safe and have no problem following limited service, but no service and charging a resort fee for no service is unacceptable. Then when complaining about it and being threatened is unprofessional. Do not recommend!"
C Marsh says"I went to ATL for the weekend, was trying to figure out how to get into my hotel, residence inn ATL Peachtree and 17th and was physically assualted by a random and crazed woman on the property. After spending an entire weekend there because I paid for my room upfront and didn't want to spend another few hundred dollars somewhere else I had not received any communication from upper management for 3 days. When I did I was offered $100 gift card for my troubles. Not even to refund my room, cover medical bills sustained from the assault but a $100 gift card and never to be heard from again. This incident happened August 14 and I haven't heard anything from anyone since August 17, 2020. I am disgusted and will never stay at a Marriott or any of it's brand again. The lack of empathy and compassion for guests is insurmountable and disgusting."
Adrian Moore says"I had a real bad experience last night @ Fairfield by Marriott® Cincinnati North Sharonville11440 Chester Rd, Cincinnati Oh 45246. I arrived at approximately 1:05 am I walked straight in the hotel no door was locked. I got to front desk no one was there so I waited a about 10 minutes I started to ring the bell upfront & walk around saying hello hello hello still no answer. So aboUt 1:40am I called 911 and the sent a officer out there cause I thought something was wrong. Well he got there about 2am and as soon as he walked in and asked me a question OUT Comes Lisa the lady who works there. After that the officer leaves and I still have to wait 10 more minutes before I could check in because the computer had to boot up. That was very unsafe I could've walked out of there with whatever I wanted to with. I understand stepping away from desk for a bathroom break but almost an hour was ridiculous. That was a terrible experience for Me & she told me I'll give you the number to Corporate I said nevermind I have it."
